Inspire Within Devotion

Scripture

If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.

Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”

Galatians 5:25-26, ESV

Encouragement

Living by the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. By ourselves and in our strength, we could never walk by these fruits. Through keeping in step with the Spirit, the Spirit produces these fruits within us. In our strength, we are weak.

One important thing for us to understand is that the fruits of the Spirit are supplied by the Spirit. We are not to become conceited from the works of the Spirit. Nor should we provoke the people who are not walking in step with Spirit or envy the people who seem to have more fruits of the Spirit. Remember when we live by the Spirit, we keep in step with the Spirit.

Reflection

Are you living by the Spirit? Read Galatians 5:16-26. What fruits do you need more of in your life? Ask God to fill you more with His Spirit and help you in that area.
