Inspire Within Devotion

Scripture

So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”

Matthew 7:12, ESV

Encouragement

Freedom from our sins is found in Jesus Christ. Because of the perfect sacrifice of Jesus, we are set free This verse goes a step further than the saying, “Don't do unto others what you don't want done unto you.” Instead of just not treating others the way that you would not want to be treated, you should be striving to do good things that you would want others to do for you. Do to others what you wish they would do for you. It could be blessing someone in need, forgiving someone who has wronged you, putting someone’s need above your own, or helping someone load their groceries. No matter how big or small the task may seem, you know what you would appreciate someone doing for you.

Reflection

Ask the Lord to show you ways that you can do good things to the people in your life or the people who cross your path today. Examine your heart to see if there is something you need to do for a heart check. For example, maybe it is the hard endeavor to forgive as Christ forgave you, would you want to be shown mercy and forgiveness for your mistakes toward someone?

Quote

"Do to others what you wish they would do for you."
