Inspire Within Devotions

Scripture

“‘Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?’”

Matthew 6:27, NIV

Encouragement

Our worries can not control a situation. The word Worry originally came from the Old English word Wyrgan, which means “to strangle.” Worry likes to strangle our thoughts; it can cause us to get strangled mentally.

Matthew 6:33 says to “seek first his kingdom and his righteousness.” So, how do we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness? By seeking God before other things when we need help, following God’s will even when we prefer another way, serving God with a humble heart, and obeying God with genuine obedience.

The only thing we should do with our worries is to give them to God. When God is first in every area of our life, we take our focus off of our desire to control what we can’t control. God is the One who controls all things. He knows our every need before we even need them.

Reflection

What worries do you need to give to God? God will take care of your worries. You just need to give them Him. Rest your worries and remind yourself that God is in control.

Quote

"When God is first in every area of our life, we take our focus off of our desire to control what we can’t control."
