Inspire Within Daily Devotional

Daily Scripture

Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.”
 Proverbs 19:21, NIV

Daily Encouragement

In our hearts, we desire to have certain plans work out in certain ways. Planning is a good thing to do, but it is important to remember that it is ultimately the Lord’s purpose that prevails. We must commit to the Will of God, even when it goes against what we always desired in our heart. God calls us to walk in the right direction—His Will—because He has a reason and purpose for all things.

God is truly the only one who knows what is best for our life. He is powerful, all-knowing, and sees our life from a superior perspective. Our plans and desires are simply that—plans and desires. Plans don’t always go as planned and desires are just something we strongly want. We should always look to God for the plans of our life, and not solely look within our hearts. Our hearts can mislead us in ways that is not the best or healthiest or even away from God’s Will. Let us always seek the Holy Spirit’s leading over the desires of our hearts.

Daily Reflection

Are you seeking desires of your heart above the will of God?
